Dreadskull #4 - For the love of Alcohol

Holed up in a small hotel room, the Dreadskull pirates were hard at work to plan an impromptu heist. Supplies were low at best and there wasn't much money to buy any, barely enough to afford the room they gathered in. Izzy's ship wasn't much of a great ride either that guzzled gas and Corvo ate at least twice as much as the average man. So with the crew being low on ammo, fuel, and food, this heist had to work out. Tori could wait for a while.

"Izzy, you had a good look at the ship, right?" Slig asked.

"For the most part, yeah. Thing's a big black juggernaut compared to our ship. But modesty has always been my thi-"

"Hold on why's it gotta be a 'black juggernaut' what's that mean?"

"I mean it's black! What color did you want me to say?"

"We can see it's black, you ain't have to point it out."

"Are you feeling some type of way?"

"Both of you, shut the hell up." D'Angelo demanded as he got up from the bed. He walked over to the window by the door and peered through the blinds to look at the behemoth of a ship docked. "They've got a stacked crew over there. This doesn't look like something we'd take up front confrontation with; we're severely outgunned here." The ship had a small number of crewman doing a night watch, a sure sign that there was something of value on the ship. D'Angelo was sure of it now, he needed to get that ship.

"You've got a point there. Eventually when people catch on that there's a sniper, sniping isn't the best option anymore."

"How many do you think you can catch before that happens?" Corvo asked.

"Probably about three." Slig responded as he joined D'Angelo by the window to observe the ship. "That's a large crew; lots of eyes and mouths to report someone's brains getting blown out. Plus my rifle ain't exactly the quietest."

"This seems like mission impossible here, guys." Izzy interjected. "We're too low on supplies and men. I feel like we're missing something, though."

"Like the walking armory named Tori?" said Corvo.

"Well there's a zinger." Izzy noted as he grabbed the brim of his fedora. He stroked his frizzy beard for a while and thought for a moment. He wasn't sure Tori would willingly go along with this heist, the last time she really had no choice. The others followed suit. Tori's mind proved to be greater than all of theirs combined and she was quick on her feet, maybe she could cook up something for them. The room was briefly silent a couple moments as everyone evaluated Tori's possible contribution.

"Daughter of a genius inventor and she's got a whoooooole lab fulla these crazy science and what have you. But will she help is the question." Slig broke the silence. He looked around the room to his partners for answers.

"I don't see why not. She was the damsel in distress for a while... then we were the damsels and she saved our asses then." Said Izzy.

"She's got good hands too, I've seen 'em." Corvo said.

"Yea cause yo ass got knocked out, we ain't forget." Slig joked.

"She caught me with a sucker punch man!" Corvo snapped in his embarrassment.

"Yea you a sucka alright." Slig gave a chuckle and then straightened up. He turned toward D'Angelo who still had his eyes glued to the ship. "But in all seriousness, what you think, D? Think she got another helping hand to give?"

D'Angelo put his hand over his face and let out a breath through his nostrils. He hated the fact of ever going to Connery again for help, even if it wasn't him, it was still his daughter. It was almost not worth it, but this wasn't just a million in his pocket he was after. So by any means his pride can be shoved aside. He unburied his face from his hand and announced, "We'll ask her for help. Adolph's a fucking idiot who relies far too much on his money and mouth the get him by. We're not gonna need much, but we're gonna need more than what we have."

"I heard that." Slig agreed. Izzy and Corvo both agreed as well. They all went back to Tori's lab back at the end of the island. The door was unlocked and they all walked inside to the lab area where they'd last seen Tori. They found her collapsed on her desk next to several bottles of alcoholic beverages of different shapes, colors, and proof.

"Welp, that's unsettling." Izzy stated as he picked her arm up to check if she's conscious. The answer was an obvious no from how her arm dropped like deadweight.

"Wow." Slig said. He let out a frustrated laugh and began pacing.

"Is she dead?" Corvo asked in concern. He looked more worried than everyone.

"None of that looks like it'd put someone down for good." D'Angelo observed as he walked over and examined the various bottles, many of which he'd had before.

"Y-Ya mind p-putting down my sleep medicine?" Tori's weak, slurred voice demanded. She grabbed one of the bottles from D'Angelo with surprising precision. Her eyes opened up a couple times showing her watery, red eyes as she scowled at D'Angelo and then everyone else around the room. "The hell are you guys doing here?"

"Checking up on your 'important work' to see that was coming along." Slig answered as he glared at her as if she were his five year old daughter telling a lie.

"It was great, I discovered how good fifty proof booze is," Tori stated in her sarcastic tone.

Izzy and Slig were dumbfounded. Corvo however looked more concerned than everything. Tori may have an alcohol problem, he thought, she's so young though. God, the things she may be going through to consume THAT much.

D'Angelo didn't have the same sympathy, he yanked her up by her lab coat and growled at her."Stupid bitch! We didn't just risk our asses out there to take you home so you can drink yourself to death!" He scolded.

She struggled to remove herself from D'Angelo's monstrous grip, but her alcohol retarded body just couldn't keep up. "Oh, what do you care?" She barked as she struggled some more. "Yer nothing but a buncha heartless thieves! After all this is done and you're paid you just gonna kill me anyway!" A shock flew across the room, everyone couldn't believe what they'd just heard her say. They got a bit closer as D'Angelo let go of her and she pulled herself together.

"Whoa whoa, take it easy!" Slig shouted.

"Kill you? Why would we kill you? Corvo asked.

"That's probably the alcohol talking." Izzy observed.

"You're not really a buncha idiots, you all know I've got a net worth of five-hundred million alone!" Tori shouted.

"Net worth don't mean we get your money if we killed you, get a hold'a yaself." Slig tried to calm her but she wasn't having it.

"No, but believe me I've been kidnapped before and you'd be surprised at how many believe that's how it works! They think I'm a bounty! And 100% of the time they'll try and wring the money outta my dad and you know what? You know how dear old dad responds?! He doesn't 'negotiate with criminals!' Haha! Isn't that just warm and loving?!" Tori hastily grabbed one of the bottles from her desk, took a heavy swig, and wiped her mouth of excess. "It fucking warms my heart!!" Tori had jumped off the deep end. Her life, father, and responsibilities all weighed down on her in excess, something she'd kept consistently under control over the past couple years to retain her image. But when she finally had a long time with herself, a time that allowed her to fully grasp everything that makes her life, all of the factors finally caused the glass house she'd lived in shattered a long way to the ground. A disaster in the making.

"Jesus. Guys if we let her keep drinking this is probably gonna go on for a while." Izzy said as he observed alongside Slig. It was a sad sight.

"You're damn right!" Tori shouted as she pointed her wobbly hand toward Izzy like a rockstar to a fan. "It's all coming out, all of it! Get your tickets people, front row seats!"

"And that's enough." D'Angelo asserted as he ripped the bottle from her hand. She lunged to grab it back only to completely miss and stumble onto a desk full of metal parts. She hit her ribs hard on the desk.

"Prick." She snarled. Her side was agonizing her and the room was spinning all at once. Balancing on her feet was a pipe dream at this point, she just fell to her knees. Tears formed in her eyes as she hung her head in shame.

So, Robert, you're still the same, I see. Sad to see what you do to people, even you're own goddamn family, D'Angelo thought. "Get the fuck up." He ordered. "We're gonna keep this contract we've got going, you hear me? We already lost a lot saving your ass and we could have just left you without a paddle out on that ship, so you owe us a bit more than a million. We're getting to Russia and we're parting ways, that's it. I don't care about your daddy issues." Eyes immediately glued to him, his coldness wasn't a new trait, but it wasn't like he no sympathy. One would think he'd at least extend some given the circumstances.

Tori sat still, her teared up eyes focused on D'Angelo. It was in that moment she believed she may be able to trust D'Angelo. He didn't seem like he was lying, it really seemed like he simply wanted the money and that was it.

"So." Slig clapped his hands and broke the following silence. He tried to change the subject and mood. "About this trip by the way. We're gonna need a bit of... supplies."

Dreadskull #3 - Port Winter

"To Russia. You want us to take you to Russia?" A bewildered Slig asked Tori upon hearing her favor request. "World energy conferences, it's held in Moscow every five years. We've got two months before it starts." "And you're gonna pay us a million dollars, each?" "One million dollars each." "Alrght just making sure I heard ya right, that's all." "Uh, don't mind me butting in, of course if you do you don't know me very well, but I'm interested in this." Izzy cut in. "What kind of presentation do you have lined up?" "Ehh it's some boring stuff. Increasing the efficiency of Geothermal energy and saving the world's natural resources and all that jazz, it's my dad's project really, I just helped refine it here and there but he just wants me to be his golden girl with him since my mom is gone." Tori responded. "Robert still out to 'improve t
